Leading independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practitioner and consulting engineer, Joe Behan Chartered Engineer, FCIArb, FIEI, BE has been elected world president of the 12,000-strong Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) for the year 2010. An experienced practitioner, with extensive knowledge in all forms of alternative dispute resolution, Joe has a wide-ranging profile in mediation, arbitration and conciliation both in Ireland and internationally. A course director and tutor for the CIArb mediation and arbitration entry courses, Joe also delivers private mediation training programmes, including modules at Maynooth University, through his own practice. He sits on a number of institutional and industrial panels of mediators and arbitrators, including those for Engineers Ireland, The Law Society, the Construction Industry Federation and the ClArb.
